🟡 Cleaning Instructions for 14K Gold Filled Jewelry
What is Gold Filled?
14k gold filled jewelry consists of a thick layer of real gold (5% or 1/20th of total weight) bonded to a base metal, typically brass. It's more durable and tarnish-resistant than gold-plated jewelry, but still requires gentle care.
What You’ll Need:
- Mild dish soap (like Dawn)
- Warm water
- Soft toothbrush or cotton swab
- Microfiber cloth or soft jewelry cloth
- Bowl
Steps:
1. Prepare the Solution
Mix a few drops of mild dish soap in a bowl of warm (not hot) water.
2. Soak the Jewelry
Let your jewelry soak for 10–15 minutes to loosen dirt and oils.
3. Gently Brush
Use a soft toothbrush or cotton swab to gently clean around detailed areas. Avoid harsh scrubbing to protect the gold layer.
4. Rinse Thoroughly
Rinse the jewelry under lukewarm water to remove soap residue.
5. Dry and Polish
Pat dry with a microfiber cloth. Use a jewelry cloth to polish and restore shine if needed.
Tips:
Avoid using ultrasonic cleaners or harsh chemicals.
Store pieces separately to avoid scratching.
